Boss Number One by Hugo Boss is the house's original men's launch fragrance from 1985, an eau de toilette renamed from its first release. Pierre Wargnye's composition remains a benchmark of eighties masculine perfumery.
It opens on a green, herbal rush: artemisia, juniper, caraway, bergamot, lemon, green apple, basil, and grapefruit. Honey, lavender, rose, sage, jasmine, geranium, orris root, and lily-of-the-valley shape a richly aromatic middle. Tobacco, oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, musk, amber, cinnamon, and cedar anchor a deep, classic dry-down.
