L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci is the house's landmark 1948 floral, presented here as an eau de parfum for women. The opening is aldehydic and bright — carnation, rose, neroli, Brazilian rosewood, peach, and bergamot.
It smells unmistakably of vintage French perfumery: sparkling, powdery, and romantic. The heart is a grand floral bouquet of carnation, cloves, gardenia, jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, violet, orris root, rosemary, and orchid.
Clove and carnation give the middle a spicy warmth that sets it apart from lighter florals. A base of spices, iris, oakmoss, musk, sandalwood, benzoin, amber, vetiver, and cedar dries down soft and powdery, like a well-loved vintage dressing table.
